Slow Moving Storm Causes Flooding in DeFuniak Springs?

6/6/2023 (Permalink)

Rain floods a street. We restore storm damage 24 hours a day in Walton County.

Our local Crestview, DeFuniak Springs, and Chipley teams are on call and ready to respond to storm damage emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Slow-moving storms can cause lots of precipitation to fall over one area long enough to cause flooding and damage to homes and commercial properties in the path of the runoff.

Storm runoff can also carry dangerous bacteria, untreated sewage, harsh chemicals, and microbes. Our technicians have the training, equipment, and experience to safely restore storm damage no matter how extensive the damage is. Here are some tips from the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for things you can do during a flood watch or flood warning:

  • Gather emergency supplies, including non-perishable food and water. Store at least 1 gallon of water per day for each person and each pet. Store at least a 3-day supply.
  • Listen to your local radio or television station for updates
  • Have vaccination records handy (or know the year of your last tetanus shot)
  • Store vaccination records in a waterproof container
  • Bring in outdoor items (lawn furniture, grills, trash cans) or tie them down securely
  • If it looks like you will need to evacuate, turn off all utilities at the main power switch and close the main gas valve
  • Leave areas subject to flooding such as low spots, canyons, washes, etc.
